Project Open Hearts Three is a Youth Expedition Project (YEP). This YEP would take place in Hatpang Village, Laos from the second to fourth week of May 2012.
In Laos, the team aims to help out in building of classrooms, share English language skills as well as basic first aid skills, with the children and teaching staff respectively. Through this, we hope we can at least be part of the master plan of the United Nations's to eradicate poverty and hunger. Above and beyond that, it is hoped that each and every member of the team will leave this experience with a greater understanding of our counterparts in Laos, which could hopefully make us learn and grow as individuals.
About the Team:
The team comprises students from the Singapore Management University (SMU) who are passionate in being involved with the community. The team will be under the mentorship of Lee Jin, who was one of the leaders of Project OpenHeartsToo(2) in 2011 as well as a member Project OpenHearts in 2010.
About the Project:
Project Open Hearts III "Hearts to Huts" is a continuation of the Project Open Hearts series of community service organised by students in the University. It is a follow-up of Project OpenHeartsToo(2), which was also an Overseas Community Service Project (OCSP) to Laos in 2011. Project Open Hearts III is named after Project OpenHearts 2010, an Overseas Community Service Project (OCSP) to Cambodia in which the mentor, Lee Jin, was a part of. It is hoped that like the two projects before, Project Open Hearts III "Hearts to Huts" will be an unforgettable and meaningful experience for the participants, as well as their counterparts in Laos.
